Distressed Coffee Table

My husbands Mother had been wanting a coffee table to go in her new place.  So we came across this black coffee table that needed some tender loving care.

She requested something in a shabby chic look and distressed.  So here is what we came up with....
 I love it!
(She wouldn't let me take a photo of the whole table, she said it was to messy and she needed to clean!! Ha!)

December Already?

Can you believe it's already December??
We have alot going on this month.  We are working on some last minute custom orders, furniture that will be available after the first of the year, working on the website,  and of course wrapping, decorating and baking. My hubby is lucky....he gets to celebrate a birthday, our Anniversary and Christmas all in one month!!

One of our custom orders has made it to a new home and is hanging on a very pretty Christmas tree! The customer sent a few photos of our Hanging Holiday Tree Ornaments that she ordered so we could see them being used.... how cute!!

I'm not leaving....

I'm not leaving without this awesome coffee table.  I was doing a little Thrift shopping and came across this beautiful round coffee table.  It is real wood and heavy, pretty much in great shape except a few dings and water makers on the top.  I had plans to re do and sale it, but once my hubby saw it he said he wanted to keep it for us!!

I am thinking black base and around the edge and then a stain on top.....

I was so excited to sign in to our Etsy shop and find out that our Holiday Hanging Tree Ornaments were picked to be included in an Etsy treasury.

Caninestruts on Etsy made a beautiful treasury and we are honored to be included.  Who doesn't love a Chevron Christmas!

Moving....

I am moving this blog over to HERE.

As many know I run an online shop and love to blog, but really wanted some place I could do both. Running a shop, a blog, facebook and twitter can be pretty busy so I wished for a place that I could go run the shop and blog together.

I love blogger and will try to stop by here from time to time.  I hope you will follow my blog over on the new site.  Please stop over and leave a comment.  Check out my blog post on something I am working on.

It's right around the corner....

Fall is right around the corner! I have to say that fall is my favorite season.

A little over a year ago I asked my husband to build us a fire pit and I am so glad he did.  It's our favorite place in our yard.  It's not very fancy, but it brings our little family together for warm fires, marshmallows roasting, and lots of talking and laughing.  My daughter and her friends love sitting out there too.

A few reasons that make Fall my favorite season:

Sitting by the fire pit
Leaves falling
The many colors of Fall
Apple Cider
Hot Chocolate with marshmallows
Spice or Pumpkin Candles burning
The crisp air
Football
Thanksgiving

Tutorial Tuesday ~ Coasters

I was given some "Vintage" fabric squares that my 94 year old Grandmother had. I really wanted to make something for me with the fabric. I just love the vintage look this fabric has. So I decided to make some fall coasters to use.

To get started you will need some supplies. Here's what I used:

Tile squares ( I bought these at Home Depot....you can use any kind)
Fabric
Mod Podge
Foam or paint brush
Scissors
Pencil
Can of Sealer
Okay I think that's all you will need....so what do you say...let's get started!

STEP 1: (Get things ready)
Get all supplies near.

Wipe off your tile with rag and get your fabric of choice out and turn face down.

STEP 2: (Trace and Cut)
Place tile on fabric and trace around the tile.

Then once traced cut just inside the square.

Once cut out place on top of tile to see if you like the fit...you may have to cut a little more until you get it like you like it.

STEP 3 (Glue down)
Now is the fun part. Take your brush and dip into your glue and spread over tile.
(I use a good amount....and it dries clear too)

STEP 4: (Fabric square on tile)
Now take your fabric square and place on glue covered tile, and smooth out. Let dry for 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 5: (Glue some more)
Once dry brush on a layer of glue on top of fabric, making sure you get the edges too.

Let dry a hour or so and then add more layers letting them dry in between. I normally put about three good layers.

Step 6: (Sealer)
After I am done I will spray a thin layer of spray sealer on the tile. Then on back of tile I will glue little felt pads on to protect the furniture.

I hope you like the Coaster tutorial!

Please don't place in dishwasher....to clean just take a wet cloth and squeeze out the water and take damp cloth and wipe off.

Let the fun began! Make a few for your Friends for gifts too...
You can also use Holiday fabrics or card stock too. If you make some please let me know, I would love to see them.

It's that time of year again....

Can you believe summer is almost over?  It's that time of year again, you know what I am talking about.....SCHOOL.

This summer flew by.  Now that the vacations are nothing more than a memory, summer sports workouts are done, baby showers and summer weddings are over it's time to think about fall.  I love fall.  The cool air, the change of leaves, pumpkins and hot chocolate and sitting by the fire pit at night, it's the best things I love about fall.

The photo above is the fire pit my husband build last year.   It is one of the best things ever, it totally brings the family together for a little relaxing, talking and laughing, and of course S'mores. My daughter has had groups of friends over and sat out by the fire and did hot dogs.  It's my favorite place in my yard.

Come on Fall, I am ready for you!!

Gray, it's the new beige!

So I have promised my daughter for quite some time that we would paint her room.  I felt bad once we got everything out of her room, that's when I saw how awful the walls where.  She had white walls, and when we started moving stuff out I was like....goodness these walls are durr-tay.  Everything from stratches, foot prints, handprints to spills where on them walls.

She really like the gray/yellow color combo so that's what we went with.  I am happy to say her walls are a beautiful soft gray and it looks great.  And now that the walls are looking snazzy we now need to paint the furniture and the trim.  We are going to repaint the trim and furniture white.  Then throw in some yellow decor.  I hope to have a finished reveal soon here on the blog, so please stop back by soon.

Here's the walls....

Gray....it's the new beige.

Summer Fun

One thing I love about summer is CAMPING!!

Not everyone loves it, but I grew up camping and now we go camping as a family.  Every July 4th we go camping with my sister and her family.  This year we were joined by my bother and his wife.  It was really fun and we couldn't have asked for better weather.

Here's a few photos from our camping trip:

The view of our campsite from the lake.

Where we floated our worries away.

My daughter  knee boarding.

Part of our campsite.

Making the girls wash the dishes.

Relaxing

A beautiful sunset...this is why I love the lake life.

My brother skiing.

Another view of the lake before the boats took over.

We saw lots of sailboats.

No words can describe how crazy my husband and brother in law are...ha!

The Royal Baby has arrived

I am pretty sure you know by now that the Royal baby has arrived.   I am so happy for Kate and William.  I think they are the cutest couple. I was in the middle of cleaning my daughters room out, shampooing her carpet and running back and worth to the television for any updates.  While in another room I heard my daughter yell...."she had a boy."  I have to say I was kinda hoping for a girl...Ha!  Earlier today I was guessing a girl, and my daughter was guessing a boy.

Congrats to Prince William and Kate!!

Weekend Shopping

I hope you had a great weekend.  I sure did.

I didn't do much, just some fabric and supply shopping.  Went to Hobby Lobby and can you believe they already have Christmas decor out???  The seasons seem to go by so fast....

Going to be making some cute clutches and pouches with the yummy fabrics you see in the above photo.  I have a few custom orders to finish up and ship out before I cut into the fabrics.  That's the hardest part about sewing....cutting into beautiful fabrics!

I have shipped all over the US, Canada,  Hong Kong, Netherlands and a few other Countries. Speaking of shipping.....I have one going out to Israel. How cool is that.

Growing up to FAST

It's amazing how fast kids grow up.

This past weekend I attended my nephews wedding. I can't believe he is married. I use to babysit him when he was a baby. I wish the happy couple lots of love, happiness and laughter. I love his bride, she is a very sweet girl.

While we were there, we drove to the beach for the day and took some pictures of my baby. Yes, she is 14 and still my baby girl. I can't believe how fast she is growing up. Such a beautiful, sweet and loving young lady.

Where does the time go.....??
